Scenery
Decent, for a mud puddle. There is a golf course, northwest of the marina. I once spotted a red fox in that area. Occasionally, you will hear the sounds of R/C aircraft. Hugging the shoreline, yields a trip just over 5 1/2 mi.
Try to keep some distance from the shore, since it is quite shallow & you may get stuck. (Rubberized craft, such as folding boats, should be concerned by getting snagged by a tree stump.)
Canadian geese abound, as do ducks & deer. In the eastern section, there are turtles.
Fees
None.
Directions
Exit route 295 to exit 65A. Proceed through the 2 traffic lights. (Sloan Avenue will turn into Flock Road.) Once on Flock Road, take the 2nd left onto Paxson Avenue. (You know that you are getting close to Paxson, because your radar detector will go off.) Take Paxson Avenue to Hughes Drive & cross over into Mercer County Park. Once in the park, look for signs on the left, for the marina. Turn left into the marina.
Take the first right & proceed to the boat ramp.
Parking
Plentiful. Parking is near the boat ramp, but there are several other parking lots close by.

Distance to the Launch Area
The main parking lot is near the launch ramp, however it is a good idea to unload your boat near the launch ramp.
Restrooms
There are restrooms in the concession building in the marina. If it's off season, there are now port-a-johns.
Status of Launch Area
Mercer County Parks has a done an excellent job accomodating canoes & kayaks. To the right of the boat ramp, is a sandy strip that is perfect for gel coats. And if you can read English, you cannot miss it: The area is designated as a kayak & canoe launch area.
Wind Conditions
The lake is small & narrow, so winds are not a significant problem. The western area, under the power lines, can get windy. (This is where the sailboats congregate.)
Power Boats
Electric motors only, but gas boats are around.
Foliage
According to a report from a neighbor, spectacular.
Rolling Practice?
Given the murkiness of the water, consider a different location to practice.
